Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a full-time Environmental Services team member for the North Hospital on-site location. The role involves cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms, offices, clinics, clinical areas, and public spaces to support a safe, welcoming environment.

The candidate will follow disinfection protocols, handle hazardous waste per safety rules, and work with clinical teams to ensure cleaning supports patient safety and care flow.

Qualifications

• No previous experience required.
• Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear.
• Physical requirements: standing for long periods, lifting 35 lbs. or more up to 80% of the time.
• Ability to operate light floor equipment for cleaning floors in patient care areas.
• Ability to climb ladders.
• Ability to clean areas that require technical cleaning including IR/Cardiac Cath/Mother-Baby/NICU/OR/ED.

Supports patient safety through consistent and high-quality service. Demonstrates ability to support the cleaning and disinfection of high-acuity clinical and procedural areas. Applies disinfection protocols and utilizes approved cleaning tools in accordance with infection control standards and hospital policy. Conducts hazardous and biohazardous waste removal in compliance with safety regulations and infection prevention protocols. Proactively communicates and collaborates with clinical teams to ensure cleaning processes support patient safety and care flow.

Candidate Requirements

• No previous experience required.

• Physical requirements to include: reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.

• Requires the ability to clean areas that require technical cleaning including IR/Cardiac Cath/Mother-Baby/NICU/OR/ED.

Preferred

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.

Benchmarks

• 3 months - Master teletracking app, Maintain good attendance
• 6 months - Independent with responsibilities assigned
• 12 months - Totally independent, completing e-learnings and completing job responsibilities,
