Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Part Time Environmental Services Associate for West Hospital. The role involves cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms, offices, clinics, and public areas to support a safe, clean environment.

You will follow disinfection protocols and collaborate with clinical teams to ensure patient safety and smooth care flow. No prior experience is required, and applicants must be able to wear protective equipment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to wear protective equipment as required by environment or regulations.
• Physical requirements include standing, bending, lifting up to 80% of the time.
• Ability to operate light floor cleaning equipment in patient areas.
• Must be able to climb ladders.
• Ability to clean areas requiring technical cleaning (IR/Cardiac Cath/Mother-Baby/NICU/OR/ED).

Overview

Schedule: Part Time - Rotating Shift (0-24 hours per week, may vary)

Department Supported: Environmental Services

Work Location: West Hospital (Onsite)

Primary Responsibilities

Provides cleaning and sanitizing services to support a safe, clean and welcoming environment. Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms, offices, clinics, clinical and procedural areas, and public spaces. Supports patient safety through consistent and high-quality service. Demonstrates ability to support the cleaning and disinfection of high-acuity clinical and procedural areas. Applies disinfection protocols and utilizes approved cleaning tools in accordance with infection control standards and hospital policy. Conducts hazardous and biohazardous waste removal in compliance with safety regulations and infection prevention protocols. Proactively communicates and collaborates with clinical teams to ensure cleaning processes support patient safety and care flow.

Requirements

• No previous experience required.
• Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.
• Physical requirements to include: reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.
• Requires the ability to operate light floor equipment for cleaning floors in patient care areas.
• Requires the ability to climb ladders.
• Requires the ability to clean areas that require technical cleaning including IR/Cardiac Cath/Mother-Baby/NICU/OR/ED.

Preferred

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.

Benchmarks

• 3 months – Master teletracking app, Maintain good attendance.
• 6 months – Independent with responsibilities assigned.
• 12 months – Totally independent, completing e-learnings and completing job responsibilities.
