Apex Companies, LLC is seeking an Associate Project Manager for our New England Environmental Team to manage and support environmental projects across Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The role combines office-based project management with hands-on field work, with travel across MA and RI and occasional travel in New England.

• Must be available for infrequent night and weekend work.
• Must be able to travel 40% in MA and RI (occasional travel throughout New England).

Responsibilities

• Project management of environmental projects, including coordination with team, clients, regulators, and subcontractors.
• Manage project financials, budgets, subcontractor invoices, and funding sources.
• Prepare proposals and technical scopes of work for environmental projects.
• Prepare technical reports supporting MCP compliance including risk assessments and deed restrictions.
• Support remediation design and implementation, pump and treat systems, soil vapor extraction, and other methods.
• Support soil and hazardous waste characterization and disposal.
• Collect soil, groundwater, soil vapor, indoor air, surface water, and drinking water samples.
• Oversee site investigation and characterization, as well as remediation of contaminated sites.
• Conduct ASTM Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments.
• Support emergency response services and enforce health and safety policies.

We are hiring an Associate Project Manager to join our New England Environmental Team. This position provides a dynamic mix of office-based project management and hands‑on field work supporting environmental projects throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. There will be some travel required throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island, but the individual will not need to report to an office if they are not in the field.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Project management of environmental projects, which will include communicating and collaborating with the team, clients, regulators, and subcontractors
• Manage project financials, to include maintaining budgets, reconciling subcontractor invoices, and supporting grants/funding sources
• Prepare proposals for environmental projects, including site walks, client meetings, and technical scopes of work
• Prepare technical reports to support MA Contingency Plan (MCP, 310 CMR 40.0000), including risk assessments and deed restrictions
• Support remediation design and implementation that include pump and treat systems, soil vapor extraction systems, biological and chemical injection programs, stabilization, etc.
• Support soil and hazardous waste characterization and disposal
• Collect soil, groundwater, soil vapor, indoor air, surface water, and drinking water samples
• Provide oversight of site investigation and characterization, as well as contaminated site remediation
• Conduct ASTM Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments
• Support emergency response services
• Implement health and safety policies

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or related major
• 5+ years of relevant experience in environmental consulting or a related field
• 3+ years of experience with Massachusetts-based regulations
• Demonstrated technical report writing proficiency.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments and various weather conditions
• Excellent safety record and understanding of safe work practices
• Valid driver's license, good driving history and reliable transportation
• Must be available for infrequent night and weekend work
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to travel 40% in MA and RI (occasional travel throughout New England)
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification is desirableRhode Island State regulatory, AutoCAD, GIS, land surveying, wetland/ecological sciences, hazardous building material assessment, stormwater sampling, and/or risk assessment experience is a plus.
