Job summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation’s Environmental Division – Stormwater Program in Carson City, NV is hiring for a Staff 2, Associate Engineer to assist with developing and implementing the Stormwater Management Program and securing water quality permits in support of NDOT construction and maintenance operations.

The role involves coordinating with other NDOT divisions, preparing reports, conducting field reviews, and contributing to water quality program components to ensure compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline.
• Ability to review, interpret and apply engineering criteria.
• Experience or familiarity with water quality or environmental regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze traffic systems including traffic signal systems and related structures.
• Develop and evaluate pavement structural sections for roadways and rehabilitation strategies.
• Review water rights applications; assist in rulings and administration of water allocation.
• Provide water quality clearance for highway projects and prepare environmental reports.
• Oversee inspections and enforce regulations related to wastewater, air pollution, and hazardous waste.
• Identify bridges, review plans, and participate in on-site inspections.
• Conduct on-site highway construction inspections and prepare final reports.
