Otto Aerospace is seeking a dynamic engineer to design, develop, and integrate mechanical systems including interior furnishings and equipment, while meeting specs, performance, and regulatory requirements.

Join a collaborative team at Meacham Airport in Ft Worth, TX with a path to Jacksonville, FL. You will perform trade studies, interfaces, and production definitions to deliver robust, production-ready solutions using CATIA/3DX CAD tools.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required.
• 0–2 years of mechanical systems design experience.
• Experience with fabrication, assembly, and installation of mechanical components.
• Familiarity with CATIA or 3DExperience CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Create system layouts and airframe integration in CATIA 3DX.
• Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews incorporating structural, thermal, environmental and ergonomic requirements.
• Collaborate with industrial design, stress, certification, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
• Coordinate interfaces with adjacent systems and structures.
• Create experimental and production digital product definitions for components, assemblies, and installations.
• Support generation of Interface Control Documentation (3D and 2D models).
• Produce bill of materials and assist manufacturing assembly instructions.

About the Role

Otto Aerospace is seeking a dynamic engineer to support the design, development, and integration of Mechanical Systems, including Interior Furnishings & Equipment. You will join a team developing the world's most efficient aircraft. Otto Aerospace is seeking first-principles engineers that balance creativity with experience while working within an effective team atmosphere.

What You'll Do

Design, develop, and integrate mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, performance standards, and regulatory requirements, to include the following:

• Mechanical Systems
  • Flight Controls (ATA 27)
  • Landing Gear (ATA 32)
  • Ice Protection (ATA 30)
• Furnishings & Equipment (ATA 25)
  • Cabin Interior Furnishings & Equipment
  • Cockpit Interior Furnishings
  • Conduct trade studies for optimized form, fit, and function of mechanical systems to include detailed system layouts and airframe integration in CATIA 3DExperience (3DX)
  • Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews, incorporating structural, thermal, environmental and ergonomic requirements
  • Collaborate with industrial design, stress, certification, manufacturing, and supply chain teams
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to define and validate interfaces with adjacent systems and structures
  • Create both experimental and production digital product definition for components, assemblies, and installations, to include dimensions, materials, and processes necessary to fully define the configuration
  • Support generation of Interface Control Documentation (3D and 2D models)
  • Produce bill of materials and assist in manufacturing assembly instructions

Who You Are

Education

• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent

Experience

• 0-2 years of experience in Mechanical Systems design

Preferred Skills

• Experience with fabrication, assembly, and installation methods of mechanical components
• Experience with ASME Y14.100 Drawings and Y14.5 GD&T
• Experience with model and drawing checking, engineering part and model release, and engineering change process
• Experience in composite and metallic rapid prototyping (additive manufacturing) for both experimental and production applications
• Experience utilizing CATIA V5, V6, or 3DX

Where You'll Be

This role is hybrid on-site at our facility at Meacham Airport in Ft Worth, TX until mid/late 2026, at which time it will transition to full onsite in Jacksonville, FL.
