Job summary

THE UNITED ILLUMINATING COMPANY seeks an Associate Engineer for Distribution Planning in Orange, CT. You will perform distribution studies, analyze interconnections, and collaborate with teams on non-wire solutions while supporting storm response.

You will apply distribution criteria, use GIS mapping, power flow, and protection tools, and contribute to continuous improvements in planning accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

• BSEE required with power system concentration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in the industry.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on distribution studies (voltage, thermal, N-1, PF).
• Engage with internal teams on Battery Storage and Grid Innovation.
• Assess DER interconnections and new load connections at various voltages.
• Develop designs and recommendations aligned with program objectives.
• Document engineering work and mentor team members.
