Job summary

Insight is seeking an Associate Engineer - Dedicated for the Fort Worth, TX office. You will deploy tools to manage and monitor new clients during service transitions, working closely with senior engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure successful deployment and thorough environment documentation before go-live.

The role requires 2+ years IT experience with Linux/Windows, familiarity with enterprise monitoring systems, and scripting in Python or PowerShell.

Qualifications

• 2+ years IT experience with Linux and Windows
• 1-2 years managing one or more enterprise monitoring systems
• Familiarity with Cisco networking and SNMP
• Experience with Windows Remote Management (WinRM) and Active Directory desired
• Scripting with Python and PowerShell desired
• VMware or NetApp experience a plus
• Ability to write concise technical docs for internal audiences

Responsibilities

About the role

The Associate Engineer is primarily responsible for deploying the tools necessary to manage and monitor new clients going through a service transition. This position involves working closely with senior engineers, project managers, and our clients to insure successful deployment, and documentation of our clients environment prior to the service going live. The engineer will be extremely proficient with all tools our business uses to deliver the service. Job responsibilities include:

• Work closely with internal and external technology support teams to ensure proper instrumentation of customer’s networks, systems, applications, services, and business processes
• Coordinate between internal teams and customer teams to ensure effective delivery of services with the aid of various tools
• Research, design, test and deploy solutions, which are cost-effective, flexible, highly available and agile.
• Manages and maintains the monitoring framework by:
  • Completing application availability and performance monitoring
  • Troubleshooting issues and implementing resolution of monitoring systems.
  • Management of false positives and negatives
  • Configuration, release and change management
• Perform installations according to design specifications; conduct pre-site preparations; and document transfer (internally & externally).
• Document procedures and develop knowledgebase articles.
• Aid internal teams in new customer service transitions
• All other duties as assigned

What were looking for

• Minimum of 2+ years of IT experience with experience managing Linux and Windows systems
• 1-2 years of experience administrating one or more enterprise monitoring systems
• Cisco networking experience a plus.
• Strong understanding of SNMP
• 1-2 years of experience administrating one or more enterprise monitoring systems (ex. Zenoss)
• Understanding of Windows Remote Management (WinRM) and Active Directory is highly desired
• Scripting experience with Python and Powershell is highly desired
• VMware, NetApp experience a plus
• Good understanding of large-scale data center and network architectures, monitoring, and fault management
• Ability to write clear and concise technical documents and presentations for sophisticated internal technical audiences
• Maintain and increase technical capabilities through knowledge gained in product testing, training, lab development, quality and process improvement
• Ability to work in group setting and independently; ability to adjust to changing priorities
• Excellent attention and orientation toward meticulous work
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to project and maintain a professional and positive attitude
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
