Maryland Environmental Service (MES) has an opening for an Associate Engineer at the BWI Marshall Airport Field.

Job Description

This role provides technical-level engineering support for stormwater management, spill prevention, UST and AST compliance, monitoring data assessment, basic engineering calculations, construction document review, and written technical reports. The field office is a designated 24/7 emergency essential facility, requiring work nights, weekends, holidays, and during adverse weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical-level engineering, planning, and analysis related to stormwater management, spill prevention, UST and AST compliance.
• Assess monitoring data and prepare basic engineering calculations.
• Develop and review construction documents and materials for technical adequacy and completeness.
• Write technical reports and correspondence.

Location

BWI Marshall Airport Field.

Estimated Pay Range

Associate Engineer: $66,861.04 - $91,933.74
Associate Engineer II: $73,547.00 - $101,127.12

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Geotechnical, Electrical, or other generally recognized field of engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Associate Engineer: 2 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Associate Engineer II: 4 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Master’s degree in engineering or other relevant field may substitute for two years of required experience.
• Must be able to obtain both UST and AST Inspector certifications within 18 months of hire.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license with fewer than 5 points.
• Must be able to obtain a Homeland Security Clearance.

Competencies

• Effective communication with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, vendors, and the public, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to research and comprehend federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations related to environmental programs, material and construction specifications, and building codes.
• Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
