Job summary

The United Illuminating Company in Orange, CT is seeking an Associate Engineer - Meter to join the Meter Engineering team. You will perform detailed analyses, design work, and calculations using standard methodologies while supporting metering standards, installations, and field troubleshooting.

This role requires an ABET-accredited degree path (BS or AS) in electrical engineering and familiarity with AutoCAD, with 0–2 years or 4+ years depending on degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology from ABET-accredited college/university with 0–2 years of experience.
• Associate’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology from ABET-accredited college/university with 4+ related industry experience in distributions, transmission or fieldwork.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operations of the Meter Test Center and Meter Engineering teams.
• Assist Data Services in identifying and resolving ISO metering data discrepancies through field meter probing.
• Provide technical support to field staff and contractors regarding metering issues.
• Contribute to some phases of Substation Metering projects.
• Specify and recommend appropriate metering equipment for various projects and assignments following UI guidebook.
• Develop proficiency in metering codes, standards, and regulations.
• Review metering requests from internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare construction drawings, material requisitions, and cost estimates with guidance as needed.
• Assist technicians with meter troubleshooting and updates.
• Revise and maintain station metering prints to reflect system changes.
• Coordinate with various departments for metering updates or installations.
• Participate in storm duty assignments as required.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by Supervisor.

• Associate’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology from an ABET-accredited college/university plus 4+ related industry experience in areas such as Distribution, Transmission, or electrical fieldwork.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
