Job description

WestVet Meridian is seeking a Specialty In-Patient Care Associate Veterinarian – (Hospitalist) for our growing 24/7 ER and Specialty hospital.

The ideal candidate will work closely with our Specialty Services, assisting in the intake and management of non-critical hospitalized patients. Duties will include developing treatment plans, communicating with clients and referral partners, and maintaining accurate medical records. Primary care practitioners with an interest in specialty medicine will find a unique caseload and learning opportunity. This is a unique opportunity for a small-animal veterinarian currently working in general or emergency practice and interested in working in a specialty practice.

Responsibilities include:

1. Seeing same-day transfers from referring partners.
2. Overseeing inpatients across the hospital.
3. Updating clients and referral partners on patient status.
4. Supporting the ER and surgery with procedures, patient recoveries, records, and communication both to clients and referral partners if needed.
5. Working with the hospital leadership team to improve workflow and standard operating procedures.
6. Contributing to the ongoing training of clinical team members.
7. Acting as a referral partner liaison to strengthen our relationships within the community.
