Job summary

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to contribute to power systems infrastructure supporting US Navy waterfront missions. You will design, analyze, and troubleshoot low to medium voltage distribution, review schematics, and create drawings in AutoCAD while coordinating with field teams during installation and commissioning.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field and have a foundational understanding of three-phase power,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related technical, engineering or science field.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Foundational understanding of three-phase power, voltage, current, and power factor; load flow concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in design, evaluation, and troubleshooting of low and medium voltage power distribution and generator systems.
  • Engage in field oversight during construction and commissioning; observe installation and testing of electrical equipment.
  • Review and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and wiring diagrams.
  • Create and modify electrical drawings and documentation using AutoCAD.
  • Support power system calculations (load analysis, voltage drop, short-circuit, basic protection coordination).
  • Prepare engineering documentation, including calculation packages and technical reports.
