Job summary

NOV in Houston seeks an Electrical Engineer to design electrical subsystems and produce comprehensive drawings for control panels and instrument layouts. You will support drilling products, aftermarket services, and commissioning, coordinating with customers and third parties to meet scope, budget and schedule objectives.

The role requires NEC/IEEE/IEC familiarity, hazardous-area ratings knowledge, and hands-on AutoCAD experience, with strong communication and multitasking skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • Drilling equipment and drilling applications desirable.
  • Familiar with NEC, IEEE & IEC standards and ABS & DNV rules for offshore drilling.
  • Familiar with hazardous area ratings: ATEX, IECEx, UL, FM, CSA.
  • Experience with AutoCAD desirable.
  • Experience with PLC and HMI applications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Produce drawings packages: Electrical One Line Diagrams, Wiring/Interconnect Diagrams, Loop Diagrams, I/O Lists, Cable Indexes, Fabrication and Assembly drawings for Control Panels and Terminal Boxes, Cable and Instrument Layouts, Hazardous Area Layouts.
  • Provide support to NOV drilling products, aftermarket/service, and installation & commissioning.
  • Design electrical subsystems and assemblies to meet customer and internal requirements within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Coordinate and review designs with 3rd parties and customers.
  • Design new NOV drilling products.
  • Coordinate equipment Factory Acceptance Tests, electrical commissioning, and start-up support as required.
  • Provide leadership in continuous improvement of quality and processes.
  • Ensure equipment designs comply with industry standards, foreign or domestic.

Travel Requirements:
  • Domestic and International travel may be required on an occasion.
Work Information:
  • Location: 6390 N. Eldridge Pkwy., Houston TX 77041.
  • Hybrid schedule after six months (3 days in the office and 2 days remote work).
