Job summary

The Pew Trusts in Washington, DC, seeks an Associate Director, Editorial within the Communications department. You will lead a team of editors, guide freelance editors, and oversee editorial content for reports, briefs, and digital materials, ensuring Pew's voice and nonpartisanship.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Editorial, you will shape storytelling across formats, mentor staff, manage budgets for freelances, and collaborate with designers and digital strategists to advance Pew's mission.

Qualifications

• Leads editorial teams and oversees multiple editors and freelancers.
• Ensures high-quality editing for reports, briefs and digital content.
• Develops and implements editorial policies and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise a team of content editors and freelance editors, with responsibility for performance management and budget for freelancers.
• Serve as content editor for TOPs and editorial projects with senior-level edits.
• Maintain knowledge of Pew projects to ensure accuracy and nonpartisanship.
• Edit for clarity, accuracy and impact while upholding Pew's editorial standards.
• Coordinate with policy experts and communications staff to plan and edit content for in-depth reports.
• Provide framing for digital-first and multimedia content, including scripts and features.
• Collaborate with designers, producers and digital strategists on integrated content.
• Support special projects and cross-program storytelling initiatives.
