Job summary

Skydance Animation is seeking an Associate Editor to join a dynamic team supporting upcoming animated features. You will work closely with the Lead Editor, bringing through a completed associate-level experience on at least one animated film.

The role requires deep AVID Media Composer expertise and a strong understanding of animation production pipelines, pre- to post-production. Base salary aligns with LA-area standards and union guidelines.

Qualifications

• 6+ years’ editorial experience in feature film animation.
• Experience at Associate-level through at least 1 animated feature.
• Advanced technical knowledge of AVID Media Composer.
• Understanding of animation pre-production, production, and post production processes.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Film, Digital Media, related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Active membership in good standing with Local 700 union.

Responsibilities

• Conform layout deliveries to existing animatic sequences while maintaining pace.
• Deliver high quality first pass of edited picture and sound to Lead Editor.
• Assemble and modify sequences to reflect story beats and script revisions.
• Maintain, update, and hone sequences through production pipeline.
• Guide Assistant Editors through complex AVID workflows as needed.
• Provide back-up to Lead Editor during editorial turns and reviews.
• Tackle special editorial projects and presentations.
• Attend editorial turnovers and note special requests and issues.
• Attend screenings and take notes for reel updates.
• Support Post with marketing, franchise, and bonus content deliveries.
