The Team

You will be part of the Long-Term Disability (LTD) Claims team, which is part of our Group Insurance Business. We have Long-Term Disability teams based out of NJ, ME, AZ, as well as fully remote teams.

The Role

The LTD Disability Claims Examiner is responsible for providing excellent customer service while managing an assigned block of around 95 to 100 Long-Term Disability claims. You will utilize judgment and assess risk as you work with various business partners to render claim decisions. Your responsibilities include:

1. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills through communication via telephone, email, and text with employees, employers, attorneys, and others.
2. Document claim information clearly and concisely.
3. Understand and apply policy plan provisions.
4. Review medical records and utilize appropriate clinical resources.
5. Complete financial calculations as needed with appropriate resource referrals.
6. Maintain a detail-oriented focus and exceptional time management skills.
7. Support a work environment that fosters Diversity and Inclusion.
8. Proficiency with PC-based programs such as Excel and Word.
9. Adapt, problem solve quickly, and communicate effective solutions.
10. Maintain a mindset of continuous improvement and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

1. Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities.
2. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines.
3. Strong written and oral communication skills demonstrated in previous work experience.

It'd Be a Plus If You Have:

1. PC skills in a Windows-based environment.
2. College degree and prior claim experience.

This position is virtual; new hires must:

1. Have high-speed internet with specific speed requirements (3.0 Mbps downstream, 768 Kbps upstream).
2. Be able to handle calls with a cell phone (unlimited data/minutes) or landline, logging into Avaya with a personal phone number.
3. Have a quiet, distraction-free area at home.

Salary range: $43,600 - $64,800, varies by location, experience, and skills.
