Job summary

MIT Alumni Association seeks an Associate Director, Young Alumni Programming, to enhance engagement across the MIT alumni lifecycle for recent graduates. You will lead programming, coordinate reunion activities, and help connect current students to the alumni network after graduation.

You will collaborate with diverse teams, manage volunteers, and employ data-driven approaches to grow participation while supporting campus events and leadership programming.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of three years in alumni relations, annual fund, marketing, or public relations in university or nonprofit setting.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategy to increase engagement lifecycle for youngest alumni (0–10 years out).
  • Guide the MIT 10 Council to develop engaging programming ideas and connection opportunities.
  • Serve as program lead for Pi and Tau Reunions, and the 15th and 20th reunion committees.
  • Develop content for MIT10 alumni at Tech Reunion events and the Alumni Leadership Conference.
  • Set and execute strategy to engage current MIT students and steward them into the alumni experience upon graduation.
  • Travel and occasional evenings/weekends as needed.
  • Background check required.

Job Requirements

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, YOUNG ALUMNI PROGRAMMING, Alumni Relations, to develop and implement strategy to increase the engagement lifecycle for the youngest alumni (0-10 years out) through their partnership with the MITAA. Will guide the MIT 10 Council to develop engaging programming ideas and connection opportunities; serve as the program lead for Pi and Tau Reunions, as well as the 15th and 20th reunion committees; develop content for MIT10 alumni at Tech Reunion events and the Alumni Leadership Conference; set and execute the strategy for the initiative to engage current MIT students, stewarding them into the alumni experience upon graduation.

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree; a minimum of three years of experience in alumni relations, annual fund, marketing, or public relations in a university or nonprofit setting; excellent planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, presentation, and oral and written communication skills; attention to detail; discretion and good judgment with confidential information; proficiency with computers and standard applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Zoom); ability to demonstrate initiative, approach work strategically, and welcome change; must be able to recruit, motivate, train, and manage volunteers; establish effective working relationships with colleagues, alumni, and other constituents; collaborate as part of a team in a diverse service-oriented environment; effectively develop and deliver training sessions; influence others and move toward a common vision/goal; and multitask, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines without compromising quality in a demanding, high-volume work environment.

PREFERRED: Knowledge of Ellucian Advance Web or other enterprise fundraising system; data analysis, marketing, and/or public relations skills; and experience working in higher education advancement.

This is a hybrid position with a combination of on-campus and remote work. Must be willing and able to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.
