Job summary

Lilly is hiring for an Associate Director – TS/MS / MSAT with responsibility for analytical support during the startup and ongoing operations of a new biologics manufacturing facility in Virginia. You will lead a cross-functional team across biology, chemistry, engineering and quality to ensure robust processes and a state-of-control operation.

The role requires 5+ years in biopharma with 3+ years in leadership, deep knowledge of analytical method development for biologics, and GMP manufacturing

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related scientific discipline, with 5+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
• Minimum of 3+ years in a people leadership role
• Experience in analytical method development for biological drug substance and drug product
• Experience in GMP manufacturing operations and supporting regulatory inspections and audits
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, lab scale models, and unit operations used in the manufacturing of biotech products
• Knowledge of laboratory scale models and commercial scale biotech manufacturing processes
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a process team with diverse professionals
• Ability to respond quickly to changing priorities within a limited timeline

Responsibilities

• Lead a technical organization to oversee biological and bioconjugate manufacturing processes
• Build a diverse and capable TS/MS organization for startup and operations
• Coach, mentor and manage performance of direct reports
• Determine TS/MS staffing and resource needs from startup through qualifications and validations
• Develop and implement robust control strategies to ensure regulatory compliance
• Review and approve procedures, deviations, technical reports and validation protocols
• Support the project team to deliver the facility ready to operate on schedule
