Job Summary

The Associate Director, Translational Operations leads the design and execution of program‑specific translational and biomarker strategies across the clinical development portfolio. This role drives the operational and scientific coordination needed to generate high‑quality biomarker data-from protocol and SAP development through CRO/vendor management, assay selection, and data delivery—ensuring biomarker insights are generated on time and integrated effectively into clinical development decisions. Partnering closely with Translational Sciences, Biospecimen Operations, Research, and external collaborators, the Associate Director translates nonclinical and mechanistic findings into actionable clinical strategies, serves as a subject‑matter expert on asset and disease biology, and represents translational/biomarker data in internal governance forums, external presentations, and publications. This position requires a blend of scientific expertise, project management rigor, and cross‑functional influence to advance biomarker‑driven drug development programs.

Work Arrangement & Location

Hybrid - This position follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring a minimum of two (2) days on‑site per week - currently designated as Tuesday and Wednesday. Additional on‑site days may be required based on business needs, team priorities, or leadership direction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Designs and implements program‑specific development biomarker/translational plans, responsible for aiding in creation of clinical protocols, SAPs, SOWs, lab manual, and interfacing with CRO for execution of services, in conjunction with Biospecimen Operations and Procurement.
  • Determines appropriate assays and vendors for clinical biomarkers, and manages outsourcing of biomarker assay development and validation partnering with Translational Sciences colleagues when applicable
  • Manages clinical biomarker data delivery and analysis and associated timelines by working with relevant internal functions and CROs
  • Prepares and delivers internal and external translational/biomarker presentations
  • Maintains timelines for biomarker data related publication through interaction with Medical Communications and Publication team as needed
  • Keeps up to date on relevant scientific/technical literature to apply external knowledge to internal research programs as appropriate and acts as a subject‑matter expert within the team to critically evaluate the literature regarding the asset and disease biology
  • Works with Research, Translational Medicine scientists, academic collaborators, and external partners to address key mechanistic and translational questions and translate nonclinical findings into clinical development strategies
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: PhD in Biology or related scientific field.
  • 7+ years of translational medicine experience in immuno‑inflammatory diseases with demonstrated ability to translate disease and pathway biology into drug discovery and development strategies.
  • Extensive experience in translational science and drug development, including development and implementation of pharmacology, pharmacodynamic, mechanistic, and biomarker strategies supporting preclinical and clinical programs in immuno‑inflammatory space.
  • Experience in drug development and activities required for and related to clinical trial initiation, maintenance and completion
  • Experience in interacting with CROs and TLs to manage projects and timelines
  • Proven scientific/leadership expertise (working in teams, mentoring people, managing projects)
  • Communicates regularly; prepares and delivers presentations within the department, to governance and senior leadership bodies, and externally as requested
  • Recognizes cross‑functional issues and communicates within the larger organization. Provides expert guidance to multi‑disciplinary teams and senior management. Has a track record of delivering results, driving continuous improvements, and building effective cross‑functional networks.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently with accuracyand detailed record keeping
Salary Range

The expected salary range for this position varies by location and will be communicated based on the country or region in which the selected candidate is hired. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, location, and other job‑related factors permitted by applicable local law. A discretionary annual bonus and long‑term incentive award (e.g., equity) may be available based on individual and Company performance.

$181,000 - $235,000 USD
