Job summary

Boise State University is seeking an experienced Box Office Manager to supervise ticket operations for athletics and events in Boise, ID. This role oversees multi-venue ticketing, pricing strategies, and staff scheduling, ensuring compliance and exemplary customer service.

The position requires directing box office activities, collaborating with promoters, and managing daily deposits while supporting revenue initiatives across venues. Nights and weekends are possible as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience or equivalent professional experience.
  • Three (3) years as a Box Office Manager or ticketing representative.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Ticketmaster platforms, with advanced knowledge of HOST, EMT, and TM1.
  • Advanced knowledge of ticketing resale platforms and their interface with primary ticketing system.
  • Experience working at a venue, athletic arena, or stadium; hiring, scheduling, and managing staff.

  • Build events, monitor inventory, manage seat holds/releases, flex pricing, rescaling, and dynamic pricing via Ticketmaster platforms.

Job Summary/Basic Function:

Supervise box office operations, manage events using computerized ticketing software, distribute and account for daily ticket sales as well as group and season tickets and work with event promoters. Oversee Box Office staff.
This position is not eligible for a hybrid/remote work schedule.
This position is not eligible for a VISA Sponsorship.

Level Scope:

Provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees at the entry or intermediate level. Functions as advisor to unit and administration and sets goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results. Analyzes and resolves problems through drawing from prior experiences. Interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of campus resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives.

Essential Functions:
  • Operations & Event Management: Manage concert and live entertainment ticket operations across all department facilities from start to finish, including simultaneous multi-venue execution. Build events, monitor inventory, manage seat holds/releases, flex pricing, rescaling, and dynamic pricing via Ticketmaster platforms. Facilitate specialized ticketing campaigns and ensure compliance with system controls and cash-handling procedures.
  • Technology & Strategy: Identify existing and emerging industry technologies, services, and best practices. Recommend and implement updated policies, practices, and services to meet evolving departmental and client needs. Implement revenue-maximization opportunities across venues.
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Relations: Assist in maintaining and developing relationships with specialized ticketing vendors and contractors. Support vendor contracts, partnerships, and RFPs as assigned. Maintain active communication with bookers, touring, marketing, venue teams, promoters, and external stakeholders.
  • Financial Oversight: Reconcile sales reports and payments, generate weekly deposit reports with the Athletics Business Office, and assist financial/settlement teams with ticketing audit interpretations. Maintain system controls and cash handling procedures.
  • Team Leadership & Sales: Supervise, train, mentor, and schedule temporary, part-time student, and event staff. Process ticket requests and facilitate specialized group ticketing sales/campaigns.
  • May perform other duties as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Expertise in event operations, guest lists, box office equipment management, and team supervision.
  • Skilled at collaborating with adjacent promoter teams (bookers, marketing, agents, sponsorship).
  • Strong customer service, adaptable in evolving environments, and proven track record of driving projects to completion.
  • Ability to interpret and enforce policies, manage cash/system controls, and work nights/weekends as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years as a Box Office Manager or ticketing representative.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Ticketmaster platforms, with advanced knowledge of HOST, EMT, and TM1.
  • Advanced knowledge of ticketing resale platforms and their interface with primary ticketing system.
  • Experience with stadium and arena ticket builds, operations, services, scale mapping, and CAD process for creating ISMs.
  • Experience working at a venue, athletic arena, or stadium. Experience hiring, scheduling, and managing staff.
Physical Demands:

May involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds; some positions may involve moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 70 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; working in all weather conditions; exposure to high noise levels and requiring wearing hearing protection.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary range is $60,673.60 to $65,000 annually and is commensurate with experience.Boise State University provides a best-in-classbenefits package , including (but not limited to):
