Overview
The Associate Director, Corporate Contracts reports to the Director of Corporate Contracts at the Penn Center for Innovation. The role implements research agreements on behalf of Penn, with structuring and negotiation performed in coordination with PCI business development teams.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate and finalize research-related contracts with industrial partners, including sponsored research, collaboration, data sharing, corporate services, non-disclosure agreements (CDA) and material transfer agreements (MTA).
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with PCI's business development teams to identify new commercialization opportunities.
- Collaborate with licensing officers to review and modify non-standard IP provisions in contracts as required.
- Problem solve issues related to corporate contract agreements in coordination with other administrative offices (e.g., Office of Research Services), departments and schools, as needed.
- Provide guidance to Penn staff on research administration systems and processes, ensuring compliance with electronic research administration systems (e.g., Penn ERA, Inteum, Research Inventory System).
- Offer direction and guidance to colleagues and various stakeholders on navigating Penn's research administration systems.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree required; M.D., Ph.D., J.D., or equivalent doctoral degree strongly preferred.
- 5–7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in contract negotiation; understanding of the research environment, preferably in higher education.
- Excellent customer service skills and excellent oral and written communications skills.
Compensation and Location
Budgeted Pay Range: $90,000 – $105,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
