Job summary

The New York Medical College Office of Student Mental Health & Wellness seeks an Associate Director, Student Wellness Programs to lead a central unit serving more than 2,000 students across NYMC Schools. The role reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor and directs clinical services, supervision, and wellness initiatives to enhance student success and well-being.

Responsibilities include clinical oversight, intake coordination, staff mentorship, program development, and cross‑campus

Qualifications

• Licensed Mental Health Professional with doctoral (Ph.D., PsyD, EdD) or master's (LCSW-R).
• Minimum of ten years of clinical experience post-licensure.
• Knowledge of FERPA and HIPAA applications in academic settings.
• New York State License and continuing education compliance.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct and triage-based mental health services and oversee referrals.
• Supervise direct reports, provide mentorship, and support professional development.
• Coordinate administration of counseling services and wellness programs.
• Manage intake, assessment, and assignment of cases to internal/external providers.
• Provide clinical oversight of high-risk cases per protocols and policies.
• Ensure continuity of care and staffing coverage during leaves and vacations.
• Evaluate campus mental health initiatives and program impact.
• Collaborate with deans, health services, and campus partners to support student wellbeing.
