Summary
- The Associate Director is to provide leadership while being given an opportunity to prepare for future leadership positions in the organization. The AD serves as the unit's team leader representative and provides front-line leadership in coordinating unit operations. The AD role combines education, orientation, and mentoring to ensure effective unit personnel performance. Principal responsibilities include directing the overall function of the assigned unit during a shift, ensuring appropriate staffing, coaching staff, and providing performance feedback. Additionally, the AD will assess, monitor, and educate staff to ensure safe, compliant care while meeting patient satisfaction goals. All duties focus on fostering effective relationships with caregivers, ancillary departments, physicians, hospital leadership, patients, and visitors.

Duties
- Supports the Director and Vice President in implementing objectives and recommending improvements supporting patient safety, quality, and satisfaction. Participates in developing staffing standards and guidelines, ensuring shifts are adequately staffed, maintaining patient acuity data integrity, and collaborating with other departments to resolve staffing issues.
- Engages in caregiver development activities, working with the Learning and Development Center to improve outcomes.
- Contributes to staff performance evaluations, providing mentoring and coaching to optimize performance and ensure safe, satisfactory patient care.
- Monitors caregiver and patient satisfaction data to identify issues and work with the team to improve effectiveness. Engages with patients and families to address immediate concerns and applies Studer principles to enhance outcomes.
- Participates in hiring, discipline, and grievance processes, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and employment laws.
- Maintains professional relationships with physicians, medical staff, ancillary personnel, and support services. Demonstrates problem-solving and conflict management skills.
- Monitors patient charts and documentation to ensure compliance with standards and a safe environment.
- Engages in self-development through clinical, professional, and managerial growth opportunities, including leadership development and orientation.
- Plans and conducts unit meetings to promote open communication, resolve issues, and reduce staff tension.
- Works with the Director to ensure leadership coverage as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum education required: Bachelor's Degree of Nursing; higher education levels are acceptable. A Master's Degree of Nursing is preferred or must be in active pursuit. A related Master’s degree is required or within 3 years of hire.
- RN licensure in the state or a compact state is required, along with Basic Life Support certification.
- Relevant clinical experience is required, with at least 3 years of progressively responsible nursing leadership experience preferred.
