Job summary

Vir Biotechnology, Inc. in San Francisco seeks an Associate Director, Technical Operations Quality Control who leads QC execution and program-level strategy across multiple programs and external testing partners.

The role translates QC strategy into integrated plans, ensures timely compliant release and stability testing, and partners with QA/Analytical Development to support regulatory submissions; occasional mentoring of QC staff; hybrid work arrangement in the San Francisco headquarters.

Qualifications

• Experience leading QC across phases from R&D to commercialization.
• Strong knowledge of cGMP, ICH, FDA and EMA expectations.
• Experience overseeing external partners (CDMOs/CTLs) and driving performance and compliance.
• Experience supporting regulatory submissions and inspection readiness.

Responsibilities

• Translate QC strategy into program execution plans.
• Lead QC activities across product lifecycle for multiple programs.
• Develop and refine QC strategies, including method transfer and validation.
• Harmonize QC methods and documentation across partners.
• Assess and mitigate risks to QC performance and regulatory commitments.
• Represent QC on CMC teams and regulatory interactions.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to QC teams and external partners.
• Oversee QC operations for release and stability testing at internal labs and CDMOs.
