Job description

Job Description Summary

This position will be located at the Cambridge site and cannot be remote.

The Biologics Research Center (BRC), within the BR, collaborates with disease areas (DAs) and technical expert groups to develop the future biologics therapy pipeline at Novartis. This involves discovering and creating new antibody, protein, nucleic acid, and virus-based molecules.

We seek a motivated scientist and leader to join the Project and Portfolio Management group at the Cambridge site. Our team manages a variety of biologics projects, from strategic discussions and candidate generation to early process development and developability assessment. The successful candidate will report to the BRC’s Project and Portfolio Management Cambridge Biologics team manager.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple global sites to discover and develop antibody, multispecific, and ADC therapies.
  2. Co-lead projects with Disease Area (DA) project leads, formulating and executing project strategies, managing interfaces, timelines, priorities, and presentations.
  3. Lead cross-functional BRC project teams, designing strategies tailored to biological and technical needs, ensuring scientific and technical excellence, risk management, and effective communication with decision boards.
  4. Guide projects in biotherapeutic approaches, including discovery, formats, modalities, technologies, developability, manufacturing cell line development, and early process development.
  5. Align with internal leadership and DAs on strategy and resourcing, providing regular updates to BRC leadership team.
  6. Represent BRC in core project teams and TRD CMC sub-teams, managing project interfaces and planning.
  7. Lead internal project meetings, interpret data, adapt strategies, and ensure clear documentation of milestones and decisions.
  8. Manage and communicate project status, issues, and resolutions to stakeholders.
  9. Foster open communication, build trust, and mentor team members to achieve goals.
Minimum Requirements
  • PhD in biologics research and development or related field.
  • At least 5 years of industry experience in biotherapeutic design, production, characterization, and delivery.
  • Proven success leading global, cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Expertise in drug development, target biology, and therapeutic design.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strategic thinking.
  • Adaptability to change, quick learner, and comfortable in fast-paced environments.
Compensation and Benefits

The starting salary range is $138,600–$257,400/year, subject to market fluctuations and individual factors. The package may include bonuses, stock units, and benefits such as health coverage, 401(k), and paid time off. Details will be provided upon offer.
