Job summary

AbbVie is seeking an Associate Director, Procurement Finance to partner with Procurement and Corporate FP&A. This global finance leader will identify, forecast, and report procurement savings and spend performance on ~ $16B spend, and lead the WAPT program to improve working capital.

The role reports to the Procurement Finance Director and requires strategic partnership with cross-functional teams, drive for accuracy, and leadership of a small team to deliver timely insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, FP&A, supply chain finance, or related discipline.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
• Experience managing, validating, or reporting procurement savings and/or working-capital initiatives.
• People leadership experience

Responsibilities

• Lead Plan, Long Range Plan (LRP) and Latest Best Estimates (LBEs) for procurement spend, savings, and WAPT.
• Establish and monitor WAPT targets, metrics, and actions.
• Provide variance analysis and executive-ready reporting for accuracy and transparency.
• Serve as strategic business partner to Procurement and Finance; align targets, risks, and opportunities.
• Establish, maintain, and communicate savings methodologies, governance, and reporting standards.
• Coordinate and validate procurement savings initiatives; verify baselines and timing; measure impact.
• Lead, develop, and coach a two-person team delivering high-quality outputs.
• Support strategic projects, reporting enhancements, and process improvements.
• Perform ad hoc analysis to support informed business decisions

Job Description

The Associate Director, Procurement Finance is a global finance leader responsible for partnering with Procurement and Finance stakeholders to identify, validate, forecast, and report procurement savings and spend performance on ~$16Bn spend. The role also leads the Weighted Average Payment Terms (WAPT) program, partnering cross-functionally to improve working capital. This position reports to the Procurement Finance Director within the Corporate FP&A function.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual Plan, Long Range Plan (LRP) and Latest Best Estimates (LBEs) activities related to procurement spend, savings, and WAPT
• Establish and monitor WAPT targets, performance metrics, and action plans
• Provide meaningful variance analysis and executive ready reporting that promotes accuracy, transparency, and predictability
• Serve as strategic business partner to Procurement and business Finance, ensuring alignment on targets assumptions, risks, and opportunities
• Establish, maintain, and communicate savings methodologies, governance, and reporting standards
• Coordinate and validate Procurement savings initiatives, including baseline assumptions, timing, implementation status, and realized financial impact
• Lead, develop, and coach a team of two employees, ensuring high quality and timely deliverables
• Support strategic projects, management reporting enhancements, process optimization, and optimization initiatives
• Perform ad hoc analysis and provide recommendations to support informed business decisions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting preferred
• 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, FP&A, supply chain finance, or a related discipline
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders without direct authority
• Experience managing, validating, or reporting procurement savings and/or working-capital initiatives
• People leadership experience

Technical and Professional Skills

• Strong financial analysis, forecasting, problem-solving, and business-partnering skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools preferred
• Experience working with ERP, procurement, spend analytics, or accounts payable data
• Ability to establish effective controls, reconcile data, and ensure reporting accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly to senior leaders
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands, manage deadlines, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, global environment
• Self-starter who can work independently, exercise sound judgment, identify process improvements, and drive implementation
