Associate Director of Strategic Finance

The Role

This Associate Director of Strategic Finance role is a strategic and hands-on position focused on driving financial insights and decision-making across the organization. This is an opportunity to be the first Strategic Finance hire and lead financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting efforts. You’ll report directly to the CFO and partner with leadership on long-term planning aligned with growth objectives. It requires conducting in-depth variance analyses to surface risks and opportunities and making actionable recommendations. You’ll thrive if you have an owner’s mindset and are excited about not just reporting the numbers, but driving business outcomes and decision making. Success in this role hinges on strong cross-functional collaboration, continuous process improvement, and effective use of financial systems to enhance reporting and planning efficiency.

What You’ll Do:

  • Financial Analysis & Reporting: Lead the development of financial models, forecasts, and reports to provide actionable insights into business performance.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Oversee the annual budgeting process and continuous forecasting to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Strategic Planning: Partner with executive leadership to develop and implement financial strategies that support the company's growth objectives.
  • Variance Analysis: Conduct detailed variance analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to gather relevant data, understand operational impacts, and support financial decision-making.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process enhancements to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial planning and analysis activities.
  • Financial Systems Management: Utilize and potentially help implement financial planning software and tools to streamline reporting and analysis.

Who you are:

  • Experience: Over 7 years of progressive experience in finance roles, with at least 2 years in strategic finance or FP&A roles, preferably within a similar industry or high-growth environment.
  • Prior experience in investment banking, private equity, or consulting is preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or relevant certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial modeling, advanced Excel skills, and experience with financial planning software.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Leadership & Initiative: Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and lead projects, especially in establishing new functions or processes.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
