FT/PT Status: Regular full-time, 1.0 FTE

Work Schedule: During the school year (September through May) Monday- Friday and may range from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. or 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. depending on programmatic needs. Ability to work evenings and weekends is required. During summer camp season, preferred hours are Monday- Friday 7:30a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Position Summary

The Associate Director of Programs leads strategic growth, design, and delivery of auxiliary programming at Winchester Thurston School, with an emphasis on expanding and strengthening offerings for students in grades 5–8 through after-school programs, summer camps, enrichment opportunities, and other mission-aligned revenue-generating initiatives. This role blends program innovation and fun with operational excellence to create high-quality experiences that reflect the School's mission, align with student interests, and respond to caregiver needs.

The Associate Director works both independently and collaboratively to support the day-to-day operations of WT’s auxiliary ventures while developing new initiatives that increase participation and impact. This individual advances and upholds the mission and philosophy of Winchester Thurston School and partners closely with faculty, staff, families, students, and external vendors.

Responsibilities
  • Leads the growth, planning, and implementation of enrichment programs, WT Summer Camp, and after-school programming.
  • Collaborates with academic and divisional leaders, including the City as Our Campus Director, Deans of Curricular Connection and Innovation, and the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, as well as colleagues across departments to ensure strong connections between the academic day and out-of-school time and coordination of auxiliary activities.
  • Partners with Human Resources and the Business Office to recruit, hire, onboard, train, assign, and supervise auxiliary program employees and vendors.
  • Oversees program operations and administration, including registration support, calendars and schedules, staffing plans, facility use coordination, facility rentals, billing, data entry, and related administrative processes.
  • Develops, manages, and analyzes program budgets; collaborates with the Business Office to monitor accounts, ensure timely payments, and support financially sustainable, revenue-generating programs.
  • Cultivates and manages relationships with community partners, vendors, and strategic collaborators to support mission-aligned programming that leverages WT’s strengths and responds to student interests.
  • Manages inventory, ordering, and fulfillment for the School Store, and implements monthly promotions to increase visibility, strengthen school spirit, and expand engagement with WT gear among students, families, employees, and alumni.
  • Collaborates with the Marketing and Communications team on marketing, advertising, web content, and enrollment strategies that promote auxiliary programming, the school store, and other enrichment events.
  • Supports the Director of Programs and the Enrichment Coordinator in researching, developing, and implementing exciting and engaging program initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, leading, and growing youth programs required. Experience in camp, enrichment, school-based auxiliary programming, or youth development is strongly preferred.
  • Innovative thinking, project management, and operational coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple timelines and priorities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to work effectively with students, families, faculty, staff, and external partners. Comfort with enrollment management, program logistics, and administrative systems (including registration platforms, spreadsheets, and databases).
  • Collaborative, flexible, and solutions-oriented, with the ability to work both independently and as part of the awesome programs team.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Winchester Thurston School and the ability to build welcoming, inclusive, student-centered programs.
Supervisory Responsibility

May oversee auxiliary program staff, seasonal employees, subcontractors, vendors, and program partners, and works closely with the Enrichment Coordinator and other Programs Department staff in support of effective daily operations and high-quality program delivery.
