Job description

Associate Director of Marketing and Sales Athletics

The Associate Director of Marketing and Sales collaborates with the Executive Associate AD for External Affairs, the Associate Director of Fan Experience, and the Marketing Graduate Assistant to increase fan attendance, enhance positive brand awareness, and boost revenue for Creighton Athletics. Experience working effectively with student-athletes, coaches, and staff is essential. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills are required, along with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines. A demonstrated commitment to diversity and promoting inclusive excellence is also required. This role oversees the Marketing Graduate Assistant and gameday intern group in coordination with the Associate Director of Fan Experience.

The Creighton University Athletic Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Associate Director of Marketing and Advertising. This position reports to the Executive Associate Athletic Director for External Operations. Creighton, located in Omaha, Nebraska, competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the BIG EAST Conference.

This Associate Director will provide leadership, management, coordination, and oversight of the department’s marketing efforts in collaboration with the Associate Director of Fan Experience.

Primary responsibilities include:

  1. Develop and implement marketing and ticketing plans for select Creighton sports to increase attendance and revenue, collaborating with communications, creative, ticketing, and other departments.
  2. Manage all advertising efforts for Creighton Athletics, including copyrighting, scripting, social media, print advertising, etc.
  3. Oversee athletic advertising, including email communication, print, digital channels, and serve as the primary designer.
  4. Handle licensing and brand management, acting as the main contact with retailers and vendors, and coordinate logo management with University Communications. Develop strategies to grow revenue through licensing sales.
  5. Work with senior administration and the ticket office to develop ticket strategies and campaigns for ticketed sports to meet financial goals.
  6. Use data analytics to inform marketing strategies, evaluate fan engagement metrics, and improve campaigns based on performance data.
  7. Create innovative methods to reach new fans and retain existing ones through ticket sales and memberships.
  8. Assist in locating and selling group ticket opportunities.
  9. Support growth of corporate partnership revenue and manage relationships with key partners.
  10. Explore new ways to promote athletic teams and branding via emerging technologies and creative outlets.
  11. Assist with enhancing the in-venue fan experience and campus communication efforts.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

This position collaborates closely with units such as Athletic Communications, Ticket Office, Creative Services, Broadcasting and Interactive Media, and Corporate Sales and Sponsorship.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication, Marketing, Sports Management, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in marketing, communications, or equivalent leadership (GA experience accepted).
  • Experience in developing marketing plans, brand strategies, or ticket sales/service plans.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Direct experience in Division I athletics or professional sports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and TM1 marketing software.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
