Job summary

Northern VA Community College is seeking an Associate Director of Data Warehouse & Data Architect to serve as the college’s senior technical data expert, developing complex SQL queries, data warehouse engineering, and data products to support institutional decision-making.

The role supervises a team including a Business Analyst, Data Quality Manager, SAS Programmer, and SQL Developer, coordinating with Budget, Finance, Institutional Resources, and Enrollment Management to translate requirements

Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, develop, and evaluate a team consisting of a Business Analyst, Data Quality Manager, SAS Programmer, and SQL Developer.
• Manage departmental workload, resource allocation, and project portfolios to ensure timely delivery of data and reporting solutions.
• Provide strategic leadership for data warehouse, business intelligence, and data governance initiatives.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate project status, risks, and resource needs to leadership.
• Design and maintain enterprise data architectures that support key stakeholder requests and expanding and supporting existing Budget and Finance data warehouse solutions.
• Evaluate existing data systems and identify opportunities for modernization, consolidation, and improved data accessibility.

General Description:

The Associate Director will serve as the college’s senior technical data expert, providing direct SQL modeling and development, data warehouse engineering, and supervising business analysis support to administrative and academic departments. The position will work closely with functional offices, including Budget, Finance, Institutional Resources, and Enrollment Management, to translate business requirements into data solutions, develop complex SQL queries and datasets, and deliver data products that support institutional decision-making.

The position supervises a team consisting of a Business Analyst, Data Quality Manager, SAS Programmer, and SQL Developer responsible for delivering enterprise reporting, analytics, data governance, and data integration services across the college.
