The Associate Director, Learning & Capability Development leads Illumina’s enterprise learning and capability-building strategy, translating business priorities, talent frameworks, and workforce needs into scalable development solutions that strengthen leadership capability, accelerate skill development, and support organizational transformation. As a strategic leader within the Talent Management Center of Excellence, this role determines how priority capabilities are built, practiced, reinforced, and sustained across the organization. The Associate Director leads an integrated learning portfolio that combines development experiences, coaching, digital learning, curated content, performance support, knowledge resources, external partnerships, and AI-enabled tools. This role will continue to modernize Illumina’s learning ecosystem by moving beyond event-based training toward continuous, learner-centered development embedded in the flow of work. The Associate Director establishes the architecture, standards, governance, technology strategy, and measurement approach needed to provide relevant, accessible, and high-impact learning experiences at global scale. Working across Talent Management, HR, business leaders, subject matter experts, technology partners, and external providers, this leader ensures learning investments address organizational priorities, improve workforce readiness, and produce measurable capability and business outcomes.
The estimated base salary range for the Associate Director, Learning and Capability Development role based in the United States of America is: $155,600 - $233,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. The range reflects long‑term growth in the role; therefore, most candidates are hired between the minimum and middle of the range. Placement depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
