Job summary

Illumina is seeking a Senior Global Technical Training & Development Engineer to develop and deliver instructional solutions for leading-edge products. You will collaborate with internal experts to create and update global training materials and train Regional Engineering Trainers to support Field Service Engineers, Distributors and Customers.

The role emphasizes designing training around troubleshooting, software and networks, and business processes; updating materials as technology evolves;

Qualifications

  • Typically requires 5+ years related experience with a BS; or 3+ years with MS; or PhD without experience.
  • BS in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree.
  • Outstanding presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to work across multiple cross functional teams to execute on training and deliverables for various commercial projects.
  • Willing to travel up to 20%.

We are looking for a Senior Global Technical Training & Development Engineer to develop and deliver instructional solutions for our leading-edge products. You will collaborate closely with internal experts to acquire technical guidance and best practice know-how to create and update global training material. You will train Regional Engineering Trainers to facilitate training for Field Service Engineers, for Illumina, its Distributors and Customers, and collaborate closely with other internal groups aligned to contribute to the same primary goals: to drive maximum utilization of Illumina systems at customer sites and to sustain customer retention.

Responsibilities

Requirements
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
  • BS in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree with knowledge in the biotechnology/biomedical industry is preferred
  • Outstanding presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively in a highly matrixed organization
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to work across multiple cross functional teams to execute on training and deliverables for various commercial projects
  • Highly motivated with a team-oriented approach to the work environment
  • Excellent written communication, verbal communication and training skills
  • Strong organization skills, including ability to rapidly balance priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Familiarity with field optical alignments, fluidics, robotics, electrical/electronics, and/or mechanical systems
  • Clear vision of and commitment to providing outstanding customer service
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20%

The estimated base salary range for the Senior Global Technical Training & Development Engineer role based in the United States of America is: $98,400 - $147,600. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. The range reflects long‑term growth in the role; therefore, most candidates are hired between the minimum and middle of the range. Placement depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
