Job summary

Columbia University seeks an Associate Director of Investigations within the Office of Institutional Equity to lead investigations of discrimination and harassment, including Title VI, VII, IX cases, and related misconduct. You will manage inquiries across students, faculty, staff, and affiliates, ensuring thorough, compliant processes and timely reporting.

The role requires JD, a minimum four years’ experience in higher education investigations, excellent writing, and the ability to handle

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and Juris doctor degree required.
• Minimum of four years of experience conducting investigations related to protected class discrimination and harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, and gender-related violence in higher education or related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state and local equal opportunity laws and regulations.
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally; maintain confidentiality and neutrality.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
• Writing sample required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct prompt and thorough investigations including witness interviews and documentation.
• Prepare detailed investigative reports of findings.
• Coordinate with University offices to ensure compliant investigative processes.
• Assist with alternative resolutions and campus programming as assigned.
