Job description

The Associate Director for Well-Being Programs reports to the Director of Well-Being Programs. Duties will include assisting in developing, overseeing, and managing engagement and outreach efforts for Well-Being Programs. Work within Well-Being Programs will focus on supporting a unified one-team approach for services and initiative that focus on building skills, sharing resources and creating experiences that support students’ overall well-being. Primary oversight will be for consistency amongst hiring practices, integration of financial Well-Being education through Boiler Financial Track, programming content and process, assessment and marketing. The external focus of this role will include leading and supporting large scale programming efforts and partnerships. Examples include Alcohol and Other Drug efforts, BetterYou, social media and marketing, grant management, and program requests. Work will ensure services promote our mission guided by Steps to Leaps, the Well-Being Unit and Purdue Student Life. Must work collaboratively with staff to accomplish goals in areas noted above, including accountability for overall budget. Responsible for supervising, evaluating, and leading staff to ensure continuous professional development. Cultivate and maintain collaborative partnerships with campus and community leaders. Serve on program teams to provide leadership with regards to Well-Being unit goals, priorities, and policies that require excellent knowledge, initiative, judgment, and critical thinking. May execute capital projects and business continuation plans. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in health promotion, health communication or related area
• Minimum 4-5 years of experience, preferably in a university setting
• Experience in supervision, plus mentoring college students in health and wellness related issues preferred, along with experience in budgeting and management
• Ability to offer leadership, vision, and strategic planning that will contribute to a comprehensive wellness program that meets the ever changing needs of the university and local community
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, manage, and develop professional staff to carry out their duties with students
• Ability to work with staff to develop their leadership and program management skills is required
• Must show ability to establish long and short term goals consistent with the mission of the university and the division
• Must show ability to build, develop, and cultivate relationships across campus and regionally with a variety of constituents
• Successful candidate will be self-motivated, energetic, service minded and adept at solving problems
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituents
• Must possess strong communication (written/oral) as well as interpersonal skills
• Proficient at computer software word processing, spreadsheet, electronic communication, etc.
