Job Summary:
The Associate Director for New Student & Family Programs (NSFP) is responsible for collaborating with campus partners to coordinate and implement Orientation for incoming undergraduate students and their families. They supervise a coordinator, providing insight and guidance to multiple first‑year initiatives. The Associate Director partners extensively across campus and serves as primary point of contact in absence of the Director of New Student & Family Programs.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
- Designs, develops, implements and assesses undergraduate Orientation programs for all first‑year students, transfer students, and family members.
- Manages and coordinates all logistics for undergraduate orientation programs, including schedules, room reservations, meals, and overnight accommodations.
- Manages pre‑orientation module platform, Advantage Design Group, including content collection and reporting.
- Utilizes Customer Relationship Management software, Slate, to manage Orientation registration, run reports, and update student records.
- Collaborates directly with Enrollment Management and Academic Affairs, including admissions, academic advising, the registrar, and each academic college.
- Supervises the Coordinator of New Student & Family Programs who is responsible for student leader development, commuter student support, and First‑Year Leadership Opportunities.
- Guides the leadership development and growth of student leaders through recruiting, hiring, training, supervising and mentoring.
- Recruits, selects, trains, and supervises graduate level summer intern.
- Collaborates with New Student & Family Programs team to execute orientation, extended orientation, welcome weekend, and Family Weekend.
- Oversees the operation of Guidebook, including input of Orientation schedules and overall content development.
- Manages budget operations for orientation, including authorizing payment of invoices, purchase orders, and negotiating contracts with vendors.
- Coordinates communication with new students and families, and assists in the development of high‑quality publications, web presence, and social media accounts.
- Keeps up to date with best practices for student development theories and trends regarding orientation and family programs, including active participation in a professional organization focused on new student initiatives.
- Serves on cross‑departmental and divisional committees to support programming efforts that align with Leadership & Student Involvement and Student Affairs priorities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
- Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel Services, Leadership Development, or a related field of study.
- 3 years of program management experience in a higher education environment such as: orientation, first‑year programs, student development or experiential education.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management Software, Slate
