• Lead the execution, evaluation, and continuous improvement of complex programmatic functions and strategic initiatives from concept through implementation.
• Manage the administration and assessment of graduate program operations, ensuring effective interpretation, implementation, and compliance with applicable university policies and regulations.
• Identify, recommend, and resolve complex operational issues, including those that span organizational units within and between departments, including cross-school and centers and institutes.
• Represent the BMDS graduate program to university leadership, internal and external stakeholders, faculty, students, and external constituencies.
• Develop, execute, and oversee outreach and external engagement strategies, including fellowship program expansion, relationship building, communications, recruitment, and compliance initiatives.
• Supervise and support staff responsible for the development and delivery of program activities and services.
• Manage the Student Services Office (SSO) operational budget in tandem with departmental leadership and the finance team.
• Oversee the student fellowship program and postdoctoral affairs.

Job description

The Biomedical Data Science (BMDS) graduate program, housed in the Department of Biomedical Data Science (DBDS), operates at the intersection of computer science, biology, medicine, and statistics to drive innovation in AI and computational biomedicine. The program advances cutting-edge research and education to address complex biomedical challenges by developing and evaluating data-driven computational methods on biomedical data assets.

We are seeking an Associate Director to provide operational leadership and support the strategic growth of the BMDS graduate and fellowship programs. The program currently serves approximately 50 PhD and 100 MS students across local and remote learning formats, supported by more than 50 affiliated faculty members across diverse academic departments.

Working closely with the Associate Chair of Education and Training, the Directors of Graduate Studies for the PhD and MS programs, faculty, students, the student services administrative team, the DBDS Director of Finance and Administration, and university partners, the Associate Director will help advance the program’s interdisciplinary training mission.

Key Responsibilities

The budgeted pay range for this position is $161,339.74 to $201,822.64 per annum.
