Position Summary

The Associate Director for Advising Strategy & Coordination drives high-level institutional alignment, technology and assessment strategy, and systemic coordination for academic advising across the university ecosystem. Serving as a strategic leader within the Center for Advising Strategy and Coordination (CASC), this position is responsible for stewarding and evolving the NYU Advising Framework’s core mission, vision, values, and competencies by facilitating cross-school coordination to implement innovative and effective shared advising practices. Serves as a key institutional liaison, managing the advising technology strategy by representing advising practices with external vendor partners, collaborating closely with the internal NYU partners, and guiding standardized practices and training for advisors. Foster a data-informed culture of continuous improvement through shared assessment practices and metrics. Guides the University’s advising assessment strategy, managing the composition of advising data and further developing the advising dataset in partnership with the Advising Assessment Community of Practice (AACoP). By facilitating robust, cross-school collaboration with groups like the Academic Advising Advisory Board (AAAB), Academic Advising Leadership, and supporting partnerships such as accelerated advising and academic coaching, the role builds consensus to cultivate a proactive, holistic, and unified advising practices that directly support student flourishing and retention and graduation goals.

Qualifications

Required Education: Master's Degree

Required Experience: 5+ years of experience in providing academic support services (for students at the college or university level), or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience must include advising or academic services operations, technical skills in advising software, and data assessment.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency using data dashboards, spreadsheets, utilizing collaborative technologies and implementing new technologies to streamline administrative processes. Ability to oversee assessment cycles and analyze data to enhance practice.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Experience using Google apps for education, PeopleSoft, Starfish, Stellic, and proven success with assessment initiatives. General knowledge of student services, academic advising, and large technology implementation.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $85,000.00 to USD $105,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
