Job summary

Oregon State University is seeking an Associate Director of Facilities and Risk for the Student Experience & Recreation department. This full-time, 12-month role provides leadership across maintenance, building services, grounds, and risk management to ensure safe, accessible, and high-quality student experiences.

The position collaborates with EH&S and Emergency Management, oversees budgets and dashboards, and drives continuous improvement while supporting student success and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in management, business, recreation, facilities management, natural resources, science, or a related field.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities and operations management within a large, complex organization.
• Five (5) years of full‑time professional supervisory experience, including hiring, training, developing, coaching, and evaluating employees.
• Knowledge of facility operations, maintenance programs, service delivery, operational planning, and continuous improvement of facility systems and services.
• Knowledge and application of risk management principles and practices.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners, stakeholders, and collaborators.
• Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
• Strong organizational, project coordination, and workload management skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible, and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead Facility Services operations including Maintenance, Building, Grounds, and Equipment Services.
• Oversee the department’s risk management program and safety protocols.
• Manage facilities, assets, space utilization, and service delivery to support student engagement and wellbeing.
• Supervise professional faculty and classified staff and oversee contract and student employees.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for reliability and compliance.
• Lead risk management, emergency preparedness, and safety program improvements.
• Coordinate space planning and long-range operational needs to support priorities.
