Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond, VA seeks an experienced Cytogeneticist/Molecular Geneticist to serve as Associate Director of the Cytogenetics Laboratory and the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratories. This is a full‑time faculty role with an affiliate rank as Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• MD and/or PhD is required.
• ABMGG certification or eligibility in either Laboratory Genetics and Genomics, or Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Genetics dual boards is required.
• Knowledge regarding regulatory issues as they apply to cytogenetics and molecular genetics.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinical service in genetic testing and validation.
• Collaborate with Directors and Managers to resolve testing issues and develop tests.
• Communicate diagnostic results clearly to faculty and clinicians (oral and written).
• Participate in tumor boards and departmental committees as required.
• Supervise residents and contribute to education of fellows, residents, students and staff.
• Engage in scholarship and national presentations; advance clinical research collaborations.
