Job summary

University of Massachusetts Boston is seeking an Associate Director for Upward Bound & Urban Scholars. The role oversees recruitment, academic guidance, program planning, and staff supervision across two pre-collegiate TRIO programs, with a focus on college access and success.

The Associate Director will live in residence during the summer, coordinate curricula, training, and internships, and collaborate with Early College and other TRIO staff to deliver a cohesive student experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or a closely related field is required.
• Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, or a closely related field is preferred.
• Minimum of three-five (3-5) years of professional administrative experience and/or teaching in urban education settings is required.
• Knowledge of MA curriculum frameworks and college counseling resources is expected.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise instructional staff and coordinate programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct the recruitment, screening, and intake of program participants and manage a caseload.
• Assist the Director of Programs in planning summer components, including staff training and orientations.
• Supervise staff, ensure alignment with core curriculum and program objectives.
• Develop and implement program curricula and accommodations for EL and/or special education services.
• Coordinate internships and collect/submit program data and reports.
• Plan and facilitate orientation sessions, field trips, and family partnerships.
• Teach a course section during the summer and oversee program operations when Director is away.
