Job summary

The Ohio State University’s Salmon P. Chase Center for Civics, Culture, and Society is seeking up to two Associate Directors to join the leadership team in Fall 2027 or earlier.

The appointment is tenure‑track at the level of Full or Associate Professor and will emphasize administration, teaching, research, and external collaboration. The Associate Director will help manage Center operations, pursue scholarly work aligned with the Center’s mission, and build strong relationships with scholars

Qualifications

• Ph.D., J.D., or other terminal degree in a field related to the Center’s mission.
• Experience in program administration in a higher education setting.
• Record of publishing high-quality scholarship in prestigious outlets.
• Record of developing and effectively teaching courses advancing the Center’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to and demonstrate commitment to the Center’s mission through administration, research, teaching, and service.
• Work collaboratively with the Center’s Executive Director.
• Build the Center into an academic community with teaching, research, and service.
• Develop and teach courses that advance the Center’s mission.
• Engage in development activities and cultivate external relationships.
• Represent the Center and OSU with professionalism to diverse stakeholders.
• Manage operations and contribute to strategic planning and policy development.
