Our Procurement team is crucial in driving AbbVie's business strategy, serving as trusted partners with leading capabilities and as a preferred customer for our suppliers.

This Procurement leader will play a strategic role in developing a next-generation approach to Procurement, transforming it into a trusted business partner and enabler of key strategies, while maintaining strong supplier relationships. As an Associate Director of Category Management, you will guide and influence stakeholders in indirect spend categories, especially Information Technology. You will drive value, foster partnerships, and enable AbbVie's strategic procurement initiatives. This role is based in North Chicago, IL, with a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite, no 100% remote option).

Responsibilities

• Maximize category value through sourcing, price management, demand management, transformational sourcing, specification harmonization, and process optimization.
• Develop and guide the category long-range plans, including strategy development and implementation.
• Provide leadership and strategic vision to optimize company value via supplier selection, negotiations, and performance-based contracting.
• Drive supplier diversity and sustainability targets.
• Improve procurement processes and systems in alignment with leadership.
• Build global supplier relationships with top suppliers and regional suppliers to address critical issues proactively.
• Coordinate with regional stakeholders across Europe, Asia, Latin America on spend management and sourcing strategies.
• Align with business units and commercial organizations on procurement needs.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies and processes.
• Collaborate internally on processes, technology, and organizational strategies.
• Influence international procurement managers inclusively, embodying AbbVie’s target behaviors.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years procurement leadership experience in a large, global, matrixed environment.
• 5+ years in IT category management (software, hardware, infrastructure, services).
• Experience leading diverse, high-performing teams across multiple countries.
• Experience with IT outsourcing is highly preferred.
• Strong leadership, business partnering, and influencing skills.
• Business acumen with success in developing and executing multi-year strategies.
• Robust project and change management skills.
• Ability to thrive during organizational transformation.
• Desire and ability to grow into a Director level role.
• Ability to work onsite in Lake County, IL, 3 days per week.
