This Procurement leader will play a strategic role in building a next-generation approach to Procurement as it transforms to become a trusted business partner and enabler of key business strategies, along with being a customer of choice for suppliers. As an Associate Director of Category Management, this role provides guidance to and influences business stakeholders of indirect spend categories, with particular emphasis on Information Technology. This individual will drive value for spend categories, grow and sustain partnerships with business stakeholders, and enable AbbVie to be a customer of choice for suppliers under the guidance of the team Director.

This role is based out of our Global Procurement Hub in North Chicago, IL (via hybrid 3 days onsite per week; 100% remote is not available).

Responsibilities

• Maximize category value employing sourcing & price management, demand management, transformational sourcing, specification harmonization, and process optimization.
• Develop and guide category long-range plans, including strategy development, implementation, & modification.
• Provide leadership and strategic vision to optimize company value through supplier selection, fact-based negotiations, and performance-based contracting, in partnership with the Director.
• Drive supplier and sustainability targets.
• Impact continuous improvement of procurement processes and systems in alignment with functional and enterprise leadership.
• Build global supplier relationship management with top suppliers.
• Develop relationships with regional suppliers to anticipate and proactively address critical issues.
• Guide geographic stakeholder alignment within Europe, Asia, Latin America on spend management, savings opportunities, and strategic sourcing needs.
• Drive stakeholder alignment with AbbVie / Allergan Aesthetics and therapeutic commercial organizations, including affiliate indirect needs.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies and processes related to procurement transactions.
• Coordinate with procurement leadership on processes, technology, organizational alignment, and strategic imperatives.
• Influence international category and procurement managers inclusively and equitably, engaging in a manner consistent with AbbVie target behaviors.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8-10 years procurement leadership experience with increasing responsibility in a large, matrixed organization.
• 5+ years experience in IT category management (software, hardware, infrastructure, professional services).
• 5+ years experience leading international teams, building diverse, high-performing groups.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in complex, global environments.
• Experience with IT outsourcing is highly preferred.
• Strong leadership and business partnering skills.
• Ability to influence without authority.
• Strong business acumen and success in developing and executing multi-year strategies.
• Robust project and change management skills.
• Track record of thriving during organizational transformation in a fast-paced environment.
• Desire and ability to grow into a Director level role.
• Ability to work onsite in Lake County, IL, 3 days per week.
