Job summary

Emerald Clinical Trials Inc. in the United States is seeking an experienced Associate Director, Biostatistics to lead the Biometrics function. You will serve as the US statistical SME, guiding sponsor engagements and informing development strategies.

You will collaborate with global teams, build the US Biometrics presence, and mentor a growing team as the function expands. This role blends scientific leadership with business development and client-facing responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of biostatistics experience within a CRO, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or clinical research environment.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a sponsor-facing statistical lead or SME.
  • Experience supporting business development activities, including proposals, bid defenses, RFP responses, and client presentations.
  • Commercial awareness and business acumen with the ability to balance scientific excellence and business objectives.
  • Strong understanding of the clinical development process and applicable regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary statistical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for US-based sponsor engagements and opportunities.
  • Provide strategic biostatistical leadership and consultation across clinical development programs and studies.
  • Act as a key point of contact for sponsors, building strong relationships and providing scientific guidance throughout project lifecycles.
  • Partner closely with Business Development teams to support proposals, RFP responses, capability presentations, bid defenses, and client meetings.
  • Support the growth and expansion of Emerald Clinical's Biometrics FSP services within the US market.
  • Represent the Biometrics function during sponsor discussions, demonstrating Emerald's capabilities and expertise.
  • Collaborate with global Biometrics teams to ensure high-quality, consistent, and timely project delivery.
  • Support the establishment and growth of Emerald Clinical's US Biometrics function.
  • Provide input into strategic planning, resource development, and operational initiatives within the Biometrics function.
  • Participate in recruiting, mentoring, and developing future Biometrics team members as the US organization expands.
  • Help define the strategic direction and operational framework for a growing US-based Biometrics capability.
  • Ensure all statistical activities comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Associate Director, Biostatistics to join our growing Biometrics team in the United States. This newly created position will be Emerald Clinical's first dedicated Biometrics hire in the US and will play a pivotal role in expanding our Biometrics Functional Service Provider (FSP) capabilities and strengthening our relationships with US-based sponsors.

This is a unique opportunity for a senior statistical leader who enjoys combining scientific expertise with client engagement and business growth. As the US statistical Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will act as a trusted advisor to sponsors, collaborate closely with Business Development teams, and help establish Emerald Clinical's Biometrics presence in one of the world's most important clinical research markets.

Beyond serving as a senior statistical leader, you will help shape the future direction of the function in the US. As demand grows, this role is expected to evolve into a leadership position with responsibility for helping to build and develop a local Biometrics team.

Your Responsibilities
