The Associate Director and Senior Labor Relations Specialist will provide advice and counsel to Einstein management on all matters related to labor relations and human resources matters, gathering, collecting, and maintaining documents and records required for contract and policy development, investigations, and negotiations. Responsible for daily administration of Einstein’s three (3) collective bargaining agreements and to ensure compliance with their obligations while assisting Einstein leaders to meet the requirements of our dynamic workplace and research and learning environments.
Position Responsibilities
- Manage routine to complex labor relations and human resource issues related to policies, procedures, and bargaining agreements; collaborates closely with Vice President for Human Resources (HR) & Title IX Coordinator and the management team to implement strategies, supports negotiations, labor relations and contract interpretations, and resolve issues.
- Serves as the initial contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee and/or labor complaints.
- Conducts interviews and gathers information for employee relations matters such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other concerns; provides HR leadership with updates on the investigation process, status, and outcome.
- Collects information and data to assess cost and policy implications of negotiations and disputes. This may include management and union proposals, pay scales and wages, benefits, working conditions, and other mitigating circumstances. Partners with Einstein’s Compensation, Finance and Payroll groups to implement contract terms.
- Conducts surveys, interviews, and other research related to human resource policies, compensation, and labor negotiations; collects information and reports results to senior leadership. Responsible for the maintenance and updates to Einstein policies and employee handbooks and implementing communication related to updates.
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to federal, New York State and New York City laws, Equal Employment Opportunity, collective bargaining, unions, labor relations, and human resources.
- Assists with preparation of plans, policies, documents, and reports including Equal Employment Opportunity , organizational charts, labor agreements, and employee handbooks.
- Assists with preparation of documents and records required for contract negotiations, meetings, and negotiations with employee and labor organizations.
- Serve as the College’s lead specialist for individual or group mediation and/or conflict resolution.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, Accounting, or related field required; Master’s degree/ JD preferred.
- At least five years of professional labor relations and HR generalist experience required; experience in an academic medicine workplace is desirable.
- Certification in mediation or conflict resolution strongly preferred.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough understanding of laws, regulations, and guidelines related to HR and contract negotiations.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is listed below. Albert Einstein College of Medicine considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

USD $125,000.00/Yr.
Maximum Salary Range
USD $135,000.00/Yr.
