Job summary

The University of Chicago seeks an Associate Director for the AI Weather Research initiative within the Data Science Institute. This role leads operational execution, program planning, and staff coordination to advance climate AI research and sponsorship activities.

Reporting to the Director, you will oversee budgets, propose program improvements, and serve as a primary liaison with funders and partners across institutions, ensuring smooth program delivery in a complex academic environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years of work experience in a related field.
• Experience in program administration, science management, or a closely related field.
• PhD preferred; evidence of leadership in an academic research setting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement day-to-day operations of the AI for Climate initiative.
• Oversee budgeting, staffing, and performance evaluation for initiative staff.
• Engage with sponsors, government partners, foundations, and international collaborators.
