Job summary

ClimateWorks Foundation is seeking an Applied AI Analyst to own the AI and automation capability behind its climate philanthropy data work. You will lead technical direction, build AI-enabled workflows, and partner with Advisory & Insights and IS&T to scale funding intelligence.

The role requires hands-on expertise with LLMs, ML concepts, Python coding, and data visualization. This US-flexible position offers SF office options and remote arrangements.

Qualifications

• BS/BA with 8+ years of related experience in data analysis, analytics, AI, or similar technical role.
• Hands-on experience with large language models and AI APIs to build automations, NLP tools, or AI-augmented workflows.
• Strong programming skills, with Python proficiency and data wrangling/pipeline experience.
• Experience with ML concepts and tools; NLP experience is a plus.
• A track record of delivering AI or automation-based solutions to workflow problems.
• Strong data management and analytical skills with good judgement on AI use.
• Experience with Tableau or Power BI and presenting visuals to non-technical audiences.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities; able to cross-functionally work.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multiple workstreams independently; 5+ years in project management.
• Understanding of data confidentiality and responsible handling of sensitive data.

Responsibilities

• Own AI strategy, technical ownership, and adoption for the philanthropic data work.
• Set standards for applied AI, evaluation, human review, and data safeguarding.
• Evaluate emerging AI tools and lead adoption through documentation and training.
• Serve as the primary contact for applied AI across A&I and IS&T teams.
• Design, build, and deploy AI-assisted workflows and LLM-powered tooling.
• Lead automation expansion: tagging, taxonomy, quality checks, and normalization.
• Improve ML models for grant classification and tagging; increase accuracy.
• Build crosswalks to integrate ClimateWorks data with external datasets.
• Partner with product and functional teams to translate needs into tech approaches.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to align AI workflows with roadmaps.
• Engage data partners on AI use and data safeguards; produce clear data visuals.
