Job summary

Madewell is seeking an Associate Designer for jewelry and soft accessories to collaborate with management on concepts, color stories, and seasonal line development. You will prepare boards, research trends, and work with cross-functional teams to refine specs and quality from concept through to store delivery.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years design experience including accessories.
• Apparel, or Product Design degree.
• High taste level and creative ability.
• Strong color sense.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Team player.
• Excellent written and communication skills.
• Ability to adhere to deadlines and calendars.
• Good follow through, proactive.
• Knowledge of garment construction and fabric/trim.
• Strong illustration skills and sketching ability.
• Knowledge of lab dips.
• Expert in Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Word and Excel.
• BA Design.

Responsibilities

• Form concepts and select color stories for each season.
• Prepare presentation boards with illustrations, CAD artwork, fabrication, materials and samples.
• Research seasonal trends, themes, color, raw materials and styling for the classification.
• Coordinate with Technical Design, Production, and Merchandising to ensure specs, quality, and design vision.
• Conduct fittings with Designer CAD colorways of print and pattern.
