Job summary

Cypress HCM is seeking an Associate Product Designer to create and refine product designs in collaboration with Product Development and Merchandising teams. You will sketch, develop technical specs, and lead select projects under senior design leadership.

You will monitor industry trends, manage design resets, and prepare materials for meetings. A strong eye for color and construct detail, plus hands-on prototyping, are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Product design or related discipline; 1 year of experience in product or apparel design & print pattern design equivalent.
• 3+ years experience in product design and development.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
• Experience in hand sketching, digital sketching, and rapid prototyping.
• Strong eye for color, trend, and construction details.
• Able to multi-task and prioritize based on business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Monitors, researches, and reports on industry trends to inform new and existing product designs.
• Leads design resets as directed; manages timelines for Trend/Innovation, Mid Design, Merch Design, and Tech Pack handoffs.
• Rapid ideation sketching for new and existing products.
• Develops, updates, and creates technical specifications and related information (materials, illustrations, layouts, BOM) for new and existing products.
• Prepares materials for meetings (presentations, line sheets, specs, samples), arranges meetings and notes during meetings.
• Approves and organizes fabric and color submissions.
• Contributes to long-term brand growth strategies.

• Creates and supports the creation of product designs based on concepts established by product development and merchandising groups. Works under direct supervision of Senior Manager Designer with support from Senior PD Director.? Takes lead with select project as defined by reporting manager (I.E. Design manager/Senior Designer)

Principle Duties And Responsibilities (approximate Percentage Of Time Spent)

• Monitors, researches, and reports on industry trends for applications to new and existing product designs. Able to lead and inspire teams with compelling Trend and Innovation stories. ( 10%)
• Takes lead with resets as directed by Design Manager or Senior Designer. ?Ability to work manage and deliver with key timeline objectives – Trend and Innovation, Mid Design, Merch Design, and Tech Pack handoff. (10%)
• Rapid ideation sketching for new and existing products. (30%)
• Develops, updates and creates technical specifications and other information (e.g., materials, product illustrations, design layouts, specification drawings, and bill of material creation/updates, etc.) on new and existing products. (20%)
• Prepares materials for meetings (e.g., presentations, product line sheets, technical specifications, garment samples, and print, fabric, sketch and research boards, etc.), arranges meetings and meeting rooms, and takes notes during meetings. (10%)
• Approve and organize fabric and color submits. (20%)
• Thinks bigger – looking ahead to future years with a mind to improve brand recognition.? Assisting and creating strategies for long term company/brand growth.

Skills

• Acts as a leader to help share program skills with fellow designers.?
• Adobe CC (specifically Adobe illustrator, Photoshop, indesign)
• Microsoft Outlook, Powerpoint, and experience in Microsoft Excel
• Computer tracking systems(i.e. Smart Sheet, PLM).
• Ability to rapidly iterate on ideas using hand sketching, digital sketching, and rapid prototyping.
• Keen eye for color, trend, detail and construction.
• Able to multi-task and prioritize based on business objectives.
• Bonus: 3D design Ability to design using 3D software

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Produce design or related discipline and 1 year of experience in product or apparel design & print pattern design equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training.
• 3+ year’s experience in product design and development.

Compensation

• $35.55-42.55/hr
