Lola Hair Studio in Cambridge, MA offers an Associate Designer program designed to move beauty students and new professionals toward becoming a confident designer with your own clientele.

You’ll learn hands-on with experienced designers, receive structured education and mentorship, and develop client consultations, guest experience, and professional habits. This role focuses on growth, teamwork, and a long-term career in the beauty industry.

Responsibilities

• Assist Designers during guest services.
• Shampoo, condition and treat clients.
• Assist with color applications as training allows.
• Learn blow-drying, styling, cutting, color and finishing techniques.
• Observe and participate in guest consultations.
• Learn to recommend services and home care.
• Prepare yourself and your Designer before each guest.
• Maintain organized guest flow.
• Keep stations, tools and spaces clean and prepared.
• Support laundry, stocking and sanitation.
• Participate in education, practice, models, assessments, and skill test-outs.
• Work toward Lola standards to transition to Designer.

You’ll work alongside experienced designers, learn through hands‑on experience, receive structured education and mentorship, practice your craft, develop your consultation and guest‑service skills, and work toward becoming a confident designer with your own clientele.

What You’ll Do

As an Associate Designer, you’ll learn by working alongside our Designers while completing your own development and education.

You’ll:

• Assist Designers during guest services.
• Shampoo, condition and perform treatments.
• Assist with color applications and salon services as appropriate to your training.
• Learn professional blow‑drying, styling, cutting, color, and finishing techniques.
• Observe and participate in guest consultations.
• Learn how to recommend services and professional home care.
• Prepare yourself and your Designer before each guest.
• Help maintain service timing and an organized guest flow.
• Keep stations, tools, shampoo areas, color areas, and shared salon spaces clean and prepared.
• Support laundry, stocking, sanitation, and salon presentation.
• Participate actively in education, practice, models, assessments, and skill test‑outs.
• Work toward meeting Lola technical and service standards so you can transition onto the floor as a Designer.
