Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field.
  • 3–6 years of middle office or operations experience in asset management.
  • Experience with equity derivatives settlement, valuation, and administration.
  • Familiarity with Enfusion and Bloomberg data platforms.
  • Strong Excel skills with PivotTables and advanced formulas.
  • Detail-oriented and able to operate in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily operational processes for equity derivative strategies.
  • Oversee the trade lifecycle including capture, confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation.
  • Liaise with traders, portfolio managers, counterparties, fund administrators, and third‑party service providers.
  • Review valuations, reconciliations, and position verification processes.
  • Assist cash management, collateral movements, margining, and liquidity monitoring.
  • Execute departmental procedures and internal controls for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare portfolio-, strategy-, and manager-level reporting.
  • Support onboarding, enhancement, and maintenance of operational infrastructure, systems, and workflows.
  • Partner with Operations and Finance to improve reporting, controls, and data integrity across positions, P&L, and exposure reporting.
  • Assist in developing and enhancing operational tools, spreadsheets, dashboards, and automated reports.
  • Respond to ad‑hoc inquiries with timely analyses.
  • Contribute to documentation, testing, and continuous improvement of processes and systems.

Job description

Position Overview

Obra Capital is seeking an Associate, Derivatives Operations to join its New York office. Reporting to the Head of Operations, this role will support the firm’s growing credit platform and continued expansion into equity derivative securities. The Associate will be responsible for end-to-end middle office operational support across equity derivatives, including options, futures, forwards, synthetics, ETFs, and related instruments.

This position sits within the ** middle office**and works closely with portfolio managers, traders, and internal infrastructure teams (Accounting, Finance, Tax, Compliance, and Legal), as well as external service providers and counterparties. The role requires a strong understanding of the trade lifecycle, operational controls, and valuation processes, with the ability to enhance reporting and operational workflows through data analysis and system optimization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily operational processes enabling portfolio management and trading activities across equity derivative strategies
  • Oversee the full trade lifecycle, including trade capture, confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation for equity derivatives
  • Liaise with traders, portfolio managers, counterparties, fund administrators, and third‑party service providers to resolve breaks and operational issues
  • Review daily, monthly, and quarterly valuations, reconciliations, and position verification processes
  • Participate in cash management, collateral movements, margining, and liquidity monitoring
  • Execute departmental procedures and internal controls to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to operational standards
  • Prepare portfolio‑, strategy‑, and manager‑level reporting, including analysis of holdings, performance, leverage, and risk exposures
  • Support onboarding, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of operational infrastructure, systems, and workflows
  • Partner with Operations and Finance to improve reporting, controls, and data integrity across positions, P&L, and exposure reporting
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of operational tools, spreadsheets, dashboards, and automated reports
  • Respond to ad‑hoc operational and data inquiries by producing accurate and timely analyses
  • Contribute to documentation, testing, and continuous improvement of operational processes and systems
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field preferred
  • 3–6 years of relevant middle office or operations experience within an alternative asset manager, hedge fund, or investment management firm
  • Hands‑on experience supporting equity derivative settlement, valuation, and administration strongly preferred
  • Exposure to structured credit products (e.g., CLOs, ABS, RMBS, CMBS) is a plus
  • Experience working with portfolio and order management systems; Enfusion experience a plus
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, PivotTables, and data analysis
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg and financial market data platforms
  • Detail‑oriented, process‑driven, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, trading‑oriented environment
Compensation & Benefits

In accordance with New York State pay transparency laws, the expected base salary range for this position is $100,000–$130,000, commensurate with experience. Total compensation may include a discretionary bonus based on individual and firm performance.

Compensation:

The expected base salary range for this role is outlined below. In addition to the base salary, total compensation may include a discretionary bonus based on performance. This range given is a best faith estimate which reflects a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, education, location and other qualifications pertinent to the position. Base salary does not include any other performance based compensation such as year end cash bonus.
